Gallery Naturalist community classes now available!

Fun, creative and explorative!
Community Textile Classes are committed to keeping ancient textile arts alive! Teaching spinning , felting, knitting, eco dye and fibre processing.

Community Art Classes focus on drawing and abstract painting and helping you gain confidence and express yourself.
These classes are fun, designed for the very beginner, the person who thinks they don't have a creative bone in their body, the 'closet' artist, the one who hasn't done it in a while, if you just want some dedicated time on art, or to do something different with or  without your friends.

At the Gallery Naturalist Community Textile and Art School:
  • Classes are drop-in and will focus on different areas and techniques. You can progress at your own rate, ask questions, drop-in (and out) as your schedule and life allows.
  • Materials are supplied for beginners OR bring or any work in progress or materials you are stuck on.
  • Classes are $50 for the 2 hour session and includes a cuppa.
    • You can pay on arrival or pre-purchase your classes - with a discount if you pre-purchase 3 or 5 classes.
      • 1 class - $50
      • 3 classes - $140 (saving of $10)
      • 5 classes - $225 (saving of $25)
** Our classes are suitable for FIFO workers, shift workers and people with busy lives. Our textile and art community classes are designed for you to be able to attend classes when its suits you. You can progress your own speed, work on your own project or one of ours and enjoy making new friends with your Textile and Community Art groups.

Textile workshops with Atelier Zuhal

Want to learn fibre processing, felt-making, spinning, yarn-making and Eco Dyeing? Zuhal is a qualified teacher (Post Grad.Dip.Ed) specialising in Adult Education in the UK and has a wonderful blend of expertise and encouragement to share with her students. No experience is necessary, and all materials are supplied. Students will finish the workshops with their own design and hand crafted textiles. The yarn used in the process will ensure that great results are achieved.

All classes are held in Zuhal’s specialist Fibre Art Studio. The studio is located at her Organic Alpaca Farm in Perth's iconic Swan Valley. The property is also home to Gallery Naturalist and is a central artist hub. You can find great examples of the work and finished pieces over at (www.atelierzuhal.com).

If you are part of a group who is interesting in participating in these workshops then please get in contact as they can be run as private sessions. Workshops can run over one or two days and if you don't want to travel, then onsite accommodation with full-board can be made available upon request. These workshops are also great for teachers doing Accreditation Training.

We announce upcoming workshops and bookings details on our website and Social Media platforms.
If you are looking for a 1-on-1 workshop or a workshop in a specific textile skill please use the contact us page to get in touch.
Our community art and textile school is now open and running weekly drop-in classes. Click below for more information.
