Sculptured Pendants - Autumn Leaves
7 - Autumn Leaves
Medium
The pendants are sculptured from glass molten onto stainless steel and / or copper wire using a gas and oxygen torch and very hot flame. The pieces are then annealed in a high temperature kiln, ‘pickled’ to remove firing residue prior to being wired together to create the sculptures. Each pendant takes between 15 to 30 hours to make over several days.
The design of my early pieces was influenced by the style of a well-known glass artist Jennie Merritt who most recently exhibited her work at the 2020 Hale College Exhibition. I thank Jennie for her patience in showing me the basics of lamp work and her encouragement along the way.
The sculptured pendants are designed to be worn on a chain or a metal choker. A limited number of these are available at the exhibition for an extra $10.
